America became the epicenter of global discussions when Mr Donald Trump assumed the presidency. His leadership style, policies, and alliances sparked debates worldwide, with many asking, What exactly is Mr Trump’s strategy?

According to Mr Sam Pitroda, understanding Mr Trump’s approach or what is going on around the world requires deep thought and consideration of five interrelated dynamics that shapes global power structures. These dynamics are inclusion, sustainability, technology, geopolitics, and economic hierarchies.

The Global Shifts: Decolonization and the Fight for Inclusion

The decolonization over the past 75 years has empowered people across nations. This newfound sense of independence has amplified voices demanding inclusion. For instance, marginalized communities in India, such as lower castes, OBCs, and minorities, are advocating for their rights in education, employment, and health. Similarly, movements like Black Lives Matter in the U.S. highlight global calls for equality.

Simultaneously, the focus on sustainability has grown. Rising concerns about climate change—from melting glaciers to California wildfires—threaten humanity’s future. However, those in privileged positions often resist these movements, fearing the loss of power and wealth. This resistance has fostered a new wave of “neo-colonization,” where the rich and powerful unite to protect their interests against grassroots movements.

The Role of Technology: Manipulation and Misinformation

Technology, especially social media and AI, has amplified this power struggle. A handful of American tech giants dominate global narratives, often spreading divisive messages to increase their profits. Social media’s reach enables misinformation, fostering fear and insecurity. The use of AI and advanced technology further consolidates power among the elite, prioritizing command and control over collaboration and inclusivity.

The Rise of Power-Driven Leadership

The Trump presidency exemplifies the alignment of political power with economic wealth. In his inauguration, prominent global elites were present, symbolizing the unification of the rich and powerful against broader societal interests. Similar patterns emerge worldwide, where leaders prioritize profits over people and the planet. Mr Trump’s withdrawal from the WHO and the Paris Accord highlights a disregard for global health and environmental issues. Policies targeting immigrants—whether in the U.S. or India—further marginalize vulnerable populations, prioritizing exclusion over inclusion.

Additionally, China’s economic rise challenges America’s dominance, as its manufacturing capabilities surpass those of other nations. This shift threatens the wealth and influence of Western elites, pushing them to strategize ways to curb China’s dominance.

Immigration and Transactional  Approach: A Global Flashpoint

Immigration remains a contentious issue under Mr Trump’s leadership. Policies aimed at deporting illegal immigrants and restricting visas—including the H1B—directly impact countries like India. Indian workers and students face challenges, as stricter regulations limit opportunities. With AI reducing white-collar jobs, the future of India’s software industry is uncertain.

This transactional approach also extends to India-U.S. relations, which have shifted from strategic collaborations, such as building IITs and IIMs during the Nehru-Kennedy era, to transactional deals centered on arms and trade. A lack of focus on mutual education, health, and technological advancements undermines the potential for a deeper partnership.

The Exodus of Talent and Wealth

India faces a troubling trend of talent and wealth leaving the country. Young Indians migrate for better opportunities, citing systemic discrimination and limited freedom. Millionaires and billionaires also relocate to evade taxes and secure better prospects abroad. This brain drain weakens India’s economic and social fabric, as the brightest minds and resources contribute to foreign economies.

A Global Constitution for Effective Governance

Mr Sam emphasizes the need for a global constitution that should enshrine the fundamental principles of inclusion, sustainability, equality, diversity, decentralization, democracy, and equity. This framework would address challenges like climate change, human rights, and digital citizenship in an interconnected world. With technology reshaping societies, defining digital rights and responsibilities becomes critical. A unified global governance system could ensure that technological advancements benefit humanity rather than exacerbate inequalities.

Transforming India:Inclusive Growth, Global Partnerships

Mr Sam highlights the need for India to address systemic challenges and embrace strategic long-term solutions. To counter the exodus of talent and wealth, India must create an inclusive environment that nurtures innovation and equal opportunities. By investing in education, health, and technology, India can retain its brightest minds and foster sustainable development.

Additionally, he suggests strengthening India’s global partnerships by focusing on collaborative projects in areas like climate change, digital rights, and public health. Instead of purely transactional deals, India should prioritize strategic alliances that benefit both nations and promote global progress.

The Way Forward

As Mr Sam concludes, the world must move beyond transactional relationships and hierarchical mindsets. By fostering strategic partnerships and addressing grassroots issues, nations can build a future rooted in collaboration, innovation, and shared prosperity. The fight for inclusion, sustainability, and equality will ultimately prevail, though the journey will be arduous. The pain of the current era may be profound, but the promise of democracy and people’s resilience offers hope for a better tomorrow.
